Cancellation Policy fro Scheduled Events:
Community Participation Requirement: At Sankofa Healing Studio, we value the dynamic of a full learning community. For this reason, we reserve the right to reschedule a training session if we do not reach a minimum of 10 participants. We ask that you consider this potential when planning your travel arrangements (if applicable).
Adjustments due to Unforeseen Circumstances: Life can present unpredictable events, and Sankofa Healing Studio holds the flexibility to reschedule a training session up to 24 hours before the first day due to circumstances beyond our control, such as severe weather, national emergencies, unexpected illness, or personal loss related to the scheduled trainer.
Reinvestment of Resources: If Sankofa Healing Studio needs to reschedule a session, participants will receive a full refund of their registration fee. However, we are unable to provide reimbursement for any travel or accommodation expenses incurred.
Participant Cancellation Policy:
For a refund of your registration fee, less a $75 administrative fee, please cancel from your registration at least 14 days prior to the first day of the training. Cancellation requests beyond this period will be honored as follows:
For participants using a payment plan, any cancellation requests after the second payment will result in a $75 cancellation fee, regardless of the cancellation date.
We offer the option to transfer your registration to a future session at no extra charge, provided the transfer request is received within the 14-day window prior to the first day of the training. A $50 transfer fee will be applied for requests received beyond this period.
Transfers are only possible within 12 months (1 year) from the date of registration. After this date, participants will need to reinvest the full registration fee to participate in a future session.
Please email any cancellation or transfer requests to admin@sankofahealingstudio.org. Our collective responsibility to transformative justice and community accountability is deeply woven into our operations and policies, including these guidelines.
Sankofa Healing Studio, under the thoughtful guidance of Jacqui Johnson, LPC, ATR-BC, is wholeheartedly dedicated to upholding transformative justice principles, community accountability, and aligning all activities with EMDRIA grievance procedures.
In every training event, our assigned trainer carries the shared values and authority of Sankofa Healing Studio to mindfully address any concerns that might arise during the training. Our commitment to transformative justice means actively addressing these issues in real-time, making necessary changes to practice partners, or resolving any staff-related challenges, while cultivating a culture of understanding, mutual respect, and shared responsibility.
When the trainer is unable to facilitate a resolution or when an issue requires a broader community response, we invite participants to communicate their grievances in writing to Jacqui Johnson, LPC, ATR-BC, Founder, Sankofa Healing Studio. This approach allows us to leverage such challenges as opportunities for growth, learning, and collective transformation.
Our transformative justice-oriented approach to resolving grievances always keeps the well-being, empowerment, and dignity of the participant at its heart. Simultaneously, we strive to identify, challenge, and change the systemic and structural aspects that may have contributed to the grievance.
Recognizing the power of community accountability, all complaints and grievances are attentively reviewed within 5 working days. Formal grievances, which we regard as crucial inputs for our collective learning and growth, should be written and sent to admin@sankofahealingstudio.com. We assure participants of a thoughtful response within 10 business days.
We believe in the collective commitment to ensure there are no conflicts of interest within this workshop. If any do arise, we are dedicated to navigating these with openness, honesty, and transformative justice in mind.
We warmly welcome you to participate in our training sessions, designed with a trauma-sensitive and transformative justice lens. These sessions may involve exploring personal topics potentially connected to emotionally intense experiences. We kindly request you to choose subjects that feel comfortable and respectful within this learning environment, remembering that this isn't the space to address unresolved major traumas.
As we navigate this collective learning journey, you will have opportunities to engage with fellow participants in a unique way. Partnerships will be formed randomly, inviting you to experience different perspectives and interactions. In these partnerships, you and your assigned partner will take turns assuming the roles of clinician and client, deepening empathy and understanding from both vantage points.
Prior to delving into any presenting issues, you will be introduced to a variety of grounding and stabilization techniques, offering a toolkit to navigate the sessions effectively. Collaboratively, we will explore the creation of treatment plans. Please remember that disclosing specific personal information isn't necessary for effective learning within this EMDR context; our focus will be on understanding and processing core negative beliefs.
Though past events may be acknowledged during treatment planning, you are never required to process anything that feels uncomfortable or not fitting. This is a learning space, not a therapy session. We heartily encourage all participants to honor their own boundaries and express their needs during the training, embodying principles of transformative justice and community accountability. In this space, we learn, grow, and support one another together.
In-Person training courses are held in facilities that are in accordance with the American Disabilities Act. Please contact admin@SankofaHealingStudio.org to request special accommodations for disability (ADA).
