Join us on a transformative educational odyssey with our "EMDR for the Ancestors" training, which is intentionally designed for Black mental health professionals of the African diaspora at all levels of experience and training. This unparalleled initiative marries core EMDR training with a profound cultural immersion in Benin, West Africa, offering an in-depth exploration of historical and racism-based trauma through the lens of EMDR therapy. Engage in a journey that enhances therapeutic skills and deepens cultural sensitivity and understanding of the historical contexts influencing collective and individual traumas.
Historical & Cultural Context:The immersive component in Benin is not merely a backdrop but an integral part of the training, providing a profound context for understanding and addressing historical and racism-based trauma through EMDR. Here are a few examples:Ganvié: The resilience of this stilt village, often called the "Venice of Africa," highlights themes of survival and adaptability, enriching discussions on resource development.Ouidah: A pivotal site in the history of the transatlantic slave trade, offering a poignant setting for exploring our collective and historical trauma.Porto-Novo: Its rich Afro-Brazilian heritage offers a lens through which to examine cultural identity and the impacts of diaspora, contributing to culturally sensitive EMDR practice.Abomey: The royal palaces of the historic Dahomey Kingdom provide a context for discussions on power, resilience, and processing complex traumas.
Advanced Training and Continuing Education Credits:This immersive includes advanced EMDR techniques, offering participants 6 EMDRIA CE credits towards certification. This segment focuses on advanced strategies for addressing complex trauma, with particular emphasis on adaptations for the Black community and tackling historical and racism-based trauma.
Payment plans and multiple financing options are available.
