This 2-day workshop invites EMDR-trained clinicians to deepen their practice through the lens of Liberation Health—a framework that situates healing within the broader context of systemic oppression, social inequities, and collective resilience.
Participants will revisit the 8 Phases of EMDR Therapy while exploring how race, power, gender, class, and historical trauma shape both the therapeutic process and client outcomes. By integrating these understandings into EMDR case conceptualization and reprocessing, clinicians will strengthen their ability to hold space for clients whose trauma is rooted not only in personal experience, but in social realities that demand acknowledgment and repair.
Through lectures, case studies, and dynamic group dialogue, therapists will explore ways to decolonize clinical practice, restore community-centered care, and embody healing justice within EMDR.

Day 1
Revisiting the 8 Phases of EMDR through a Liberation Health lens; dynamic lecture, case review, and discussion on how structural violence impacts trauma storage and reprocessing.
Day 2
Applied integration: case conceptualization labs, practice with liberation-focused interweaves, reflective dialogues, and action planning for systemic accountability within EMDR work.

Facilitated by Jacqueline Johnson, LPC, ATR-BC, ACS, PMH-C, CCMHC,
EMDRIA-Approved Trainer & Consultant, and Founder of Sankofa Healing Studio.
Jacqui integrates EMDR with expressive arts therapy, somatic practices, and the principles of healing justice.
