Community-Centered Healing Therapist
She/Her
Hakneil is a community-centered healing therapist at Sankofa Healing Studio whose work is rooted in cultural awareness, embodied care, and collective meaning-making. Trained in EMDR and trauma-responsive approaches, she supports individuals and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, identity exploration, and life transitions—particularly within communities impacted by racialized stress and systemic harm.
Hakneil’s approach honors the wisdom that lives beyond clinical language. Drawing from faith traditions, street knowledge, lived experience, and community values, she is committed to reshaping how healing is understood in marginalized spaces. Her work intentionally moves away from pathologizing narratives and toward care that affirms dignity, agency, and connection.
Through both clinical practice and community-engaged inquiry, Hakneil explores how experiences of discrimination, belief systems, and cultural context shape relationships and social behavior. She believes healing must account for history, environment, and meaning—not just symptoms.
At Sankofa, Hakneil creates collaborative, nonjudgmental spaces where clients are invited to reconnect with their bodies, emotions, and sense of self. Therapy with her is grounded, relational, and affirming—supporting clients as they move toward clarity, wholeness, and deeper self-understanding on their own terms.
